On January 19, 2007, the Armenian-Turkish journalist Hrant Dink was shot dead in front of his newspaper AGOS building in Istanbul. He had campaigned all his life for the democratization of Türkiye and the reappraisal of the Armenian Genocide used.
At a virtual memorial event Can Dündar, Gregor Gysi and Cem Özdemir, among others, participated in the Cultural Forum Turkey Germany. The contributions and discussions also addressed the War over Nagorno-Karabakh.
